An artist/musician who has, by now made a transition from playing acoustic pop/pop into a more funky, bluesy kind of music once said in an interview:
"this jangly acoustic pop, i don't know how long I would've stayed in it"
Yeah, I understand that, and I do agree, acoustic 'jangly' pop sounds very much like music for the hopelessly romantic. It's clear, clean, and 'nice' - you can't possibly make an acoustic song with foul/harsh words (not to say having harsh words in a song is a bad thing, it's not, especially when properly placed) in its lyrics.
Well, I like these jangly acoustic songs and I play an acoustic guitar but that doesn't mean that's the only kind of music I listen to.
Among the many different kinds of music/songs/bands that I 'layan' is Rage Against The Machine (too bad Zach de La Rocha is no longer with RATM - I truly think that he's the one who gave RATM its soul - though one may argue that without Tom Morello's guitarworks RATM wouldn't sound like the way they do/did - but I'm talking about 'soul', not guitar solos, not mean drumbeats- The SOUL).
One of their songs is "Killing in The Name of". Since RATM is an American band, their songs are about things American, but then again these things are commonly shared by everyone irrespective of whereabouts. Damn man! I feel like shouting the lyrics out loud in the middle of the city!
